67m Telephone Lines Not Active Reports NCC
NCC (Nigerian Communications Commission) in its monthly report has announced that the number of inactive lines have increased from 65,186,753 in May to 67,331,498 in June 2016.
Of the 217,150,404 connected lines, only 149,818,906 numbers were active.
Teledensity is the number of telephone connections for every hundred individuals living within an area
“Nigeria’s teledensity is currently calculated by the NCC on a population of 140 million people.
This means Nigerian just buy sim cards, use them for a while and dump them. Wonder why Nigerians are amassing sim cards?
Well there are a number of reasons.
A person changes location maybe temporarily or permanently and realizes that a particular network has better coverage in that area so he switches to that network.
People also want the cheapest and best deals in terms of either data packages or call tariffs. So they tend to move to whatever network offers the best packages.
The amassing might as well be due to loss or theft.
