Samsung recalls Galaxy Note 7 and Will Replace Those Already Sold

Samsung stops sale of Galaxy Note 7 and promises to replace those that have been sold

Samsung recalls Galaxy Note 7 less than one month after release.

This is due to reports that some of the devices have blown up while charging. Samsung investigated the case and realized that it is a battery cell issue.

According to The Guardian, a Samsung spokesperson said that there have just been 35 cases reported globally. There is an ongoing inspection with suppliers in order to identify possible affected batteries in the market.

However, because Samsung loves you customers so much and wants to ensure that your phone does not burn you. It will stop sales of Galaxy Note 7 and that’s not all.

It will be replacing all the units already sold to boost customers confidence in the safety of the unit. Samsung said it has sold 2.5 million devices so far

The timing is bad for Samsung as Apple’s new iPhone 7 is to be launched next week.

And this just after Samsung recorded  its most profitable quarter for two years.

Here is Samsung’s statement:

Samsung is committed to producing the highest quality products and we take every incident report from our valued customers very seriously. In response to recently reported cases of the new Galaxy Note7, we conducted a thorough investigation and found a battery cell issue.

To date (as of September 1) there have been 35 cases that have been reported globally and we are currently conducting a thorough inspection with our suppliers to identify possible affected batteries in the market. However, because our customers’ safety is an absolute priority at Samsung, we have stopped sales of the Galaxy Note7. For customers who already have Galaxy Note7 devices, we will voluntarily replace their current device with a new one over the coming weeks.

We are working with our carrier partners to announce the details of the U.S. product exchange program as soon as today.

We acknowledge the inconvenience this may cause in the market but this is to ensure that Samsung continues to deliver the highest quality products to our customers. We are working closely with our partners to ensure the replacement experience is as convenient and efficient as possible.
