Google Launches Fact-Check Label to News Stories
Google is now fact checking stories on Google News. The fact check label will be added next to news stories in search result.
Richard Gingras, Google’s head of news in a blogpost says this.
“Google News determines whether an article might contain fact checks in part by looking for the schema.org ClaimReview markup. We also look for sites that follow the commonly accepted criteria for fact checks … We’re excited to see the growth of the Fact Check community and to shine a light on its efforts to divine fact from fiction, wisdom from spin”
He also said that sites which already have a fact checking service can apply to be included to appear in search results.
Tagged articles will be seen in the expanded story box on news.google.com and in the Google News & Weather iOS and Android apps, starting with the US and the UK.
